On 26 May 2023, The Assistant Treasurer, Hon Stephen Jones MP, announced the appointment of, Peter de Cure AM as Chair of the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB).

Mr de Cure is a seasoned leader who possesses a wealth of expertise in overseeing the tax practitioner industry's regulatory affairs. He has served as a member of the TPB since 2017.

In addition to his role in the TPB, Mr de Cure is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. He has been a Member of the Remuneration Tribunal of South Australia since 2020. Presently, he holds the position of Chair at the South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission. He has also previously worked as a registered tax agent for over 16 years.

Since 2007, he has successfully fulfilled the roles of Chair and director in various organisations, including the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Central Operations), Accord Property Holdings, and Gifford Hill.

Mr de Cure replaces outgoing Mr Ian Klug AM, who had served as Chair of the TPB from February 2019 and prior to that as a Board member since 2015. 

‘I am delighted to be appointed as the new Board Chair of the TPB. The tax profession plays a vital role in Australian society, and it is essential that we maintain high standards and protect consumers. I am looking forward to working with the Board and the whole team to ensure that the TPB is delivering on its essential mandate’, Mr de Cure said.

Mr de Cure thanked Mr Ian Klug for his contribution to the TPB over the last 8 years.
