Employment with the TPB

TPB staff are employed under the Public Service Act 1999 by the Commissioner of Taxation but are seconded on a permanent basis to the TPB under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009. As ATO employees they are bound by the employment conditions of ATO employees. The ATO ensures all employees, including those that work at the TPB meet particular eligibility requirements, pass integrity checks, and have the right skills and capabilities. In addition, registered tax practitioners must surrender their registration before they commence employment as staff at the TPB.
